Two 3-bedroom cabins in Broken Bow, compared

Pine woods around Broken Bow, Oklahoma in autumn with a cabin deck visible through the trees

If you want a 3-bedroom vacation home in Broken Bow, start with two of ours: Whispering Wooded Loft, which sleeps ten across three bedrooms and three bathrooms, and Whispering Trails Lodge, three bedrooms and two bathrooms, sleeping nine. Both take pets. They're close in size and nothing alike in temperament, which is the useful part.

Bedroom count tells you less here than people expect. Ten guests in three rooms means lofts, extra beds and a bathroom queue, or it doesn't, depending entirely on the house.

Where each of these cabins actually puts you

Both sit in the woods on the Broken Bow side of things, which is the practical half of this area. Broken Bow and Hochatown are two different towns about ten miles apart on US-259, fifteen minutes or so, and that drive is the spine of every trip here. Beavers Bend State Park is north of Broken Bow off 259, with the turn onto 259A taking you in to the lake and the Lower Mountain Fork River. Groceries run the other direction: the Walmart Supercenter and Pruett's Food are in Broken Bow proper, which is where you end up on arrival day whether you planned to or not.

Whispering Wooded Loft sits minutes from Mountain Fork Brewery, part of the Hochatown drinking cluster that also takes in Hochatown Distilling Co., Wild Horse Winery and Beavers Bend Brewery. If dinner out followed by a short drive home is part of the point of your trip, that matters more than anything on the amenity list.

Whispering Trails Lodge backs onto miles of forest and trails, and it's quieter for it. You hear nothing out there at night.

Whispering Wooded Loft: three bathrooms is why ten people works

Ten guests, three bedrooms, three bathrooms, eight beds, just over two thousand square feet. The bathroom count is doing the heavy lifting: it's what separates a cabin that sleeps ten on paper from one where ten people get out the door by nine in the morning.

Beyond the beds:

  • Kayaks at the house, which changes an itinerary rather than decorating it. Broken Bow Lake runs to more than fourteen thousand acres with 180 miles of shoreline, and the Lower Mountain Fork through Mountain Fork Park has rapids and small waterfalls that paddlers come for. Having boats on site means your morning doesn't start at a rental counter.
  • A hot tub plus an outdoor fireplace alongside the fire pit, so the evening has somewhere to go when the fire burns down.
  • A foosball table and game console, which earn their keep on the afternoon it rains, and it does rain.
  • Long-term stays allowed, if you're the sort who works from the porch for a week.

This is the house for a group that arrived to do things: get on the water, eat in Hochatown, come back and sit outside. Two families splitting a trip fit it well.

Whispering Trails Lodge: quieter, and easier on a smaller group

Nine guests, three bedrooms, two bathrooms, five beds, a bit under eighteen hundred square feet. Rustic rather than polished, with a patio, a fire pit, barbecue tools and a dining table everyone fits around. There's no hot tub here. If a hot tub is non-negotiable for your trip, say so now and we'll point you at a different cabin.

What it has instead is seclusion and forest at the back fence. Beavers Bend's trails are a short drive north: Cedar Bluff Nature Trail runs under a mile and finishes on a view over the lake, Lookout Mountain Loop is just under three miles with real climbing in it, and the David Boren trail links twelve miles from four trailheads if you want a full day. Friends Trail Loop follows the Lower Mountain Fork, is well marked and has parking near the trailhead, which makes it the one to send the teenagers off on.

Five beds for nine is tighter arithmetic than the Loft's, so this suits a family with children sharing, or a group of six or seven who'd rather have the space than fill every bed. With a full nine, two bathrooms is the thing you'll notice.

Side by side

  • Sleeps: ten at Whispering Wooded Loft, nine at Whispering Trails Lodge.
  • Bathrooms: three at the Loft, two at the Lodge.
  • Beds: eight at the Loft, five at the Lodge.
  • Hot tub: at the Loft.
  • Fire pit: at both.
  • Indoor entertainment: foosball, game console and board games at the Loft.
  • Water gear: kayaks at the Loft.
  • Setting: the Loft is near the Hochatown restaurants and breweries; the Lodge backs onto forest and trails.
  • Pets: welcome at both.

When three bedrooms isn't really what you want

A lot of people type "three bedrooms" when they mean "room for our group", and the number can work against you.

Above these two, Mystic River Retreat has five bedrooms and four baths for twelve, with a hot tub and an EV charger, which is genuinely useful out here given the drive from Dallas runs three to three and a half hours and Oklahoma City closer to four. Bent Pine Lodge takes fourteen in four bedrooms, in the woods between the two towns, and it's what we book for reunions.

Going smaller usually buys more room per person. Driftaway Lodge sleeps six with a hot tub, and Chapparal Lodge puts six into sixteen hundred secluded square feet five miles south of Hochatown. For two, The Gallery In The Pines is the modern cabin among the pines.

Before you book

Settle your dates first. Availability, rates and minimum stays move constantly here, particularly around the Hochatown Music Series weekends from May through September and the Beavers Bend Folk Festival at the Forest Heritage Center in November, so confirm the specific nights rather than assuming. Booking direct with us means lower prices and no platform fees, and the number you call reaches the people who run the house.

Then tell us the shape of your group, not just the headcount. Nine adults and nine people including four kids are different bookings, and so are one dog and three. We'll confirm the current pet policy for the cabin you're considering and tell you straight if two bathrooms will start to grate by day three.
